Odd Goblin RPG
A downloadable rpg
Here's a link to the Google Doc version of the game. It may be marginally more up to date and doesn't require any downloading to read.
Odd Goblin is a TTRPG system designed for old-school dungeon crawling play, pulling from the best parts of a few design trends currently sweeping through the RPG space. Specifically, it's built for fast-moving, newbie-friendly play focused more on creative problem solving than on tactical combat.
It's designed to excel in three main areas:
1) Being easy enough to learn for pick-up games with first-time players. I run a lot of games for people who have never played TTRPGs before, so I needed a system I could run with minimal teach-time.
2) Adding a flexible but structured core built to assist a 'rulings over rules' and 'fiction over mechanics' playstyle. The core mechanic is simple but powerful--"how well does this go on a scale from 1-10?", meant to be easily modded by the GM on the fly to fit the needs of the situation.
3) Giving the players a bunch of cool options and abilities to play with. Comes with 36 highly distinct classes, each a set of unique in-world abilities rather than numeric bonuses. Emphasizes on utility over combat--characters are fragile but incredibly resourceful.
It's still in playtesting, so updates are frequent. The PDF currently uploaded is player-facing. GM resources, including a bestiary, dungeon creation procedures, treasure tables, etc are in-progress.
Highly compatible with Into the Odd/Cairn adventures, mostly compatible with other old-school adventures. Inspired by Into the Odd, Blades in the Dark, Goblin Laws Of Gaming, Forsaken Megadungeon, and Free Kriegsspiele, each in their own way.
Largely compatible with most GLOG classes.
